FanDuel vs BetMGM: which sportsbook is better?
FanDuel and BetMGM are both legal US sportsbooks, but they come from different places. FanDuel Sportsbook is the online sportsbook from FanDuel, the company behind FanDuel Casino; FanDuel began in daily fantasy sports. BetMGM Sportsbook is the online sportsbook from BetMGM, the joint venture of MGM Resorts and Entain, so it carries a casino company's rewards program with it.
For most sports bettors we pick FanDuel: its app is built around the sportsbook, with live streaming and Same Game Parlays. BetMGM is the better fit if you already collect MGM Rewards or want one balance across a casino and a sportsbook.
App and betting experience
Both run full mobile apps with in-play betting and cash out. FanDuel's app puts the sportsbook first: Same Game Parlays sit at the centre of it, and live streaming is built in for some events.
BetMGM's app shares one wallet with BetMGM Casino, so a single balance covers both, which matters most if you play both. Its Edit My Bet tool lets you change the selections on an open bet instead of cashing out and starting again.
Markets and bet types
Both cover the major US leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and college sports, with point spreads, moneylines, totals, player props, parlays and futures. Neither publishes a market count we can check, so we do not quote one.
Prices differ from game to game. MyWager's live odds board reads lines from FanDuel and BetMGM, so you can compare the two on the same game before you bet.
Where each is legal
Each sportsbook needs a license in every state where it takes bets, so the two lists of states differ. You need to be 21 or older and physically in a state where the sportsbook is licensed to place a bet.
Our legalization tracker shows where online sports betting is legal in each state, and each state guide covers what you can use there. On this page, the FanDuel card shows FanDuel's current offer, where there is one for the state you select. MyWager does not currently carry a BetMGM offer.
Banking and payouts
Our feature table lists cards, PayPal and bank transfer at both books, plus Venmo at FanDuel and Play+ at BetMGM, with the same minimum deposit at each. How quickly a withdrawal arrives depends on the method you choose and each sportsbook's identity checks, so check the cashier in each app for the current options and timings.

FanDuel vs BetMGM FAQ
Is FanDuel or BetMGM better?
For most sports bettors we pick FanDuel, for its sportsbook-first app. BetMGM is the better choice if MGM Rewards or one wallet across casino and sportsbook matters more to you.
BetMGM vs FanDuel bonuses: which is better?
We cannot compare them fairly right now. FanDuel's current offer for your state, with its terms, is shown on this page. MyWager does not currently carry a BetMGM offer, so we do not list BetMGM bonus details. Offers change often, so read the full terms before you sign up anywhere.
Can I have accounts at both FanDuel and BetMGM?
Yes. Where both are licensed you can hold an account at each and compare prices before every bet. Bet only what you can afford to lose.
Are FanDuel and BetMGM legal in my state?
It depends on your state, and the two are not licensed in all the same places. Check our legalization tracker or your state guide, then confirm in each app, which checks your location before you can place a bet.
